All dogs that join Best Day Ever Dogs essentially become one of the wolf pack (aka one of the family) whilst they are in our care. It is vital that we assess your dog to ensure that they will be happy in our environment and that they are suitable to be around other dogs in our care.
Best Day Ever Dogs is a boutique doggy daycare only catering to a small number of dogs each day (up to 10). In order to ensure we have staffing in place to accomodate all dogs, we require bookings in advance.
We operate Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 6.30pm.
We require pick up and drop off times to be pre-arranged in order to:
All dogs at our service are required to undertake a meet and greet and initial assessment to ensure we are a good match.
All dogs in our care must be fully vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and kennel cough (parainfluenza (Type II) virus and Bordetella bronchiseptica) and treated for fleas and gastrointestinal worms. All dogs must also be registered with their local council and arrive on a leash and collar (with name tag).
A registration form is required for all dogs attending our doggy daycare including an initial assessment. You can find a copy of the form here
We have a limited number of spaces available. If you are an existing client and can't make an online booking for the days you are seeking, please call us on 0497 797 450 or email sarah@bestdayeverdogs.com.au.
Best Day Ever Dogs accepts small breed puppies upon assessment, as long as they are fully vaccinated and treated for gastrointestinal worms (at least 8 days must have elapsed post vaccination for puppies under 16 weeks).
As you know, puppies are lots of work! Whilst they are very sweet, they do require 100% visual and physical supervision at all times. The puppy surcharge covers the additional staffing demands (supervision, training, cleaning) as well as additional toileting/cleaning supplies).
We have a discretionary puppy surcharge of $15 per day for puppies under 6 months of age and may apply the puppy surcharge until 12 months if required.
Best Day Ever Dogs encourages responsible pet ownership and requires all dogs over the age of 6 months be desexed.
Best Day Ever Dogs loves dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes however can only offer doggy daycare to small breed dogs at this stage. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all dogs in our care. Very occasionally, we may consider a medium sized dog up to 15kg (for example a small whippet) if their temperament suits being with smaller dogs.
Your dog is in great hands.
Best Day Ever Dogs is a registered Boarding Establishment and has Domestic Animal Business Registration with Glen Eira City Council (in accordance with Section 47 of the Domestic Animals Act 1994).
Best Day Ever Dogs has a Planning Permit (GE/CP-36081/2023) to operate exclusively as a Doggy Daycare. Unlike many other services that offer 'doggy daycare' in addition to grooming, or at private homes etc. we have undergone extensive planning to comply with the Code of Practice for the Operation of Boarding Establishments (in accordance with Section 59 of Animal Welfare Victoria's Domestic Animals Act 1994) in order to operate legally as a dedicated doggy daycare.
Best Day Ever Dogs has public indemnity insurance, police checks, WWCC and Australian Red Cross Pet First Aid training.
Our doggy daycare is fully secure both indoor and out and compliant with the security requirements of Dog Day Boarding Facilities. We prefer an indoor-outdoor lifestyle with access to our fully fenced outdoor area (weather permitting).
Please arrive with your dog fully leashed with their collar (and/or harness). We suggest collars have up-to-date contact details and council registration tags.
If your dog is having a meal with us, please bring along pre-portioned food in a sealed container. Any food not consumed on the day will be returned back to you.
Please bring any medication to be administered (we will discuss this with you in detail).
If it is raining and/or cold, pack a rain jacket for your dog (we have spares they can borrow if you forget).
Please don't bring any bedding, toys or blankets. We have so many different enrichment activities and find that a) dogs are more interested in the novelty of new things and b) we want to avoid any resource guarding behaviours with other dogs.
We provide fresh water at all times and can also provide an identifiable collar if you forget to bring one.
All dogs in our care must be fully vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and kennel cough (parainfluenza (Type II) virus and Bordetella bronchiseptica) and treated for fleas and gastrointestinal worms.
If your dog is ill or injured before they are dropped off to us, please consider their welfare (and the welfare of the wolf pack) and keep them home if possible. If they are ill or injured, please discuss this with us as we will do our best to accomodate them (as long as they are not suffering from an infectious disease).
We monitor all dogs throughout the day for signs of illness or injury and will contact you immediately if we are concerned for the health or welfare of your dog. If we are unable to contact you, we will contact your nominated emergency contact and/or nominated veterinarian for advice. We may need to isolate your dog in our isolation crate until they can be collected or assessed by a veterinarian.
In the event of an emergency and if we are unable to contact you or your emergency contact, or you are unable to collect your dog immediately to present to your own veterinarian, we will contact our vet (Evervet Prahran or Evervet South Yarra). Any costs incurred will be at the expense of the owner.
Best Day Ever Dogs operates Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 6.30pm. We have pre-arranged drop off and pick up times in order to facilitate a smooth handover of your dog.
If you are running late, please give us a call on 0497 797 450. The latest pick up time from 219 Hawthorn Road is 6.30pm sharp. If you will be unexpectedly later than this, please let us know as we can either arrange to chauffeur your dog home or arrange an alternative pick up location (please note both these services will incur a surcharge of $1 per minute subject to our discretion).
If you require the occasional early drop off or late pick up we may be able to accomodate this if you let us know prior to booking.
If you haven't collected your dog and we are unable to contact you, we will contact the person nominated as your emergency contact. If we are unable to contact either you or your nominated emergency contact, we will continue to provide care for your dog (at an additional expense). We will continue to attempt to contact you and/or your nominated emergency contact as well as your nominated veterinarian. Further information is available on our Terms of Service.
